Hi! I am Ashley and am currently a high school student in New Hampshire. Since I was young, I have practiced yoga, meditation, and mindfulness under my mother's influence. These practices have helped me greatly – alleviate stress and anxiety, cope with pressure, stay in the present... Seeing some of my peers and friends struggle from poor mental health growing up, I wanted to help by sharing these practices. In the summer of 2018, I received my yoga teaching certification at age 13. Since then, I have been leading yoga and meditation at my school. In early 2020, as a result of experiencing quarantine – which enabled me to connect and empathize with underserved young people on a new level – and my previous interactions with underpriviledged youth, I realized that these youth are most vulnerable to poor mental health and mental health issues and that they have very limited access to mental health resources and services. I directed my attention to underserved youth. In August 2020, I founded the Youth Alliance for Mental Health. I am proud of how far YAMH has gone and hope that we can help and support more disadvantaged youth!

In addition, I have continued to further my own practice and skills. In 2019, I attended meditation workshops. In February 2020 (right before the COVID outbreak), during spring break, I was in a yoga program in Miami, Florida. In March 2021, I participated in an eight-week online mindfulness meditation group program. In the summer of 2021, I attended a two-week yoga therapy training program.

Hello, my name is Yangyang Li. I live in Space Coast, Florida. I am a yoga instructor and a member of Yoga Alliance. I also enjoy playing disc golf in my spare time. My yoga journey started after a trip to India in 2017. Like many others, my practice started on the mat with yoga asanas. Still, I gradually accepted yoga's ancient teachings and adapted them to my daily life. I follow these teachings to maintain my body, mind, and emotional outlook. I truly believe we (humanity) are linked through our shared consciousness, and I am grateful to have access to the wisdom embued in yoga. Yoga is a lifelong journey of growth and discovery, and I am eager to share these lessons with others. Ashley was very young when we met at an ashram in Florida. She was half my age! Still, Ashley had wonderful energy, and we quickly became friends. She introduced me to the Youth Alliance for Mental Health (YAMH), and I am honored to support this important cause as a volunteer!
